Transforming existing e-learning courses into modern learning experiences - with ScormIQ, the context-aware AI chatbot

In many companies, valuable SCORM courses lie dormant in the learning platform: technically strong, but static. Participants today expect dialogue-oriented, helpful support - directly in the course, without media disruption.

This is exactly where Netresearch comes in: We enrich existing e-learning courses with a context-aware AI chatbot that provides precise answers to questions about the current course and even images and diagrams.

We are currently trialling this process together with SIKA, a leading provider of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting for the construction and manufacturing industries.

What participants get out of it

  • A coach in the course: Participants ask questions in natural language and receive answers with reference to the current course and the currently visible slide.
Understands images: The assistant can describe and explain technical graphics, diagrams and illustrations.
Clarity instead of guesswork: Instead of cryptic slide IDs, the chatbot gives comprehensible slide titles and numbers.
Continuity in the conversation: The assistant memorises the course of the conversation without deviating from the topic.

How your company benefits

  • Modernise quickly instead of producing from scratch: Existing SCORM courses are upgraded - without costly re-creation.
Higher completion and satisfaction rates: Direct assistance reduces frustration and increases learning success.
Less support effort: Frequent queries are shifted from personal enquiries to the course.
Faster onboarding and sales enablement: Product and process knowledge can be experienced directly.
Future-proof: The solution is universal, scalable and easily transferable to new courses.

Why our solution is reliable

  • Universal, front-end-centred architecture: Each course brings its own context with it. The backend service remains deliberately "dumb" and universal - one endpoint for all courses.
No course mixing: Clean isolation ensures that answers never "smuggle in" content from other courses.
LMS-compatible : The chatbot can be securely and easily integrated into common learning management systems (LMS) such as SAP SuccessFactors, Cornerstone, Totara or Moodle - without complex conversions.
Stable in operation: clear health checks and logging support smooth operation.

Proven results from our ScormIQ project

  • 3 courses successfully enriched, 100% successful embedding in course HTMLs.
133 images described AI-based - the chatbot now also answers questions about images and diagrams.
Zero downtime during launch; stable live use.
Extensively processed content: Thousands of text snippets, dozens of audio transcripts - processed fully automatically.

This is how the introduction works

Without technical jargon - with a focus on impact:

  • Lifting content: We extract text and audio content from the course and automatically organise it into a clear structure.
  • Optional: Activate image understanding - AI precisely describes diagrams, graphics and illustrations.
  • Inject chatbot: The assistant is embedded directly into the course HTMLs, including a modern widget.
  • Deploy: The universal backend service runs centrally, the SCORM packages remain independent.
  • Upload to the LMS : Finished ZIP packages are integrated as usual as a SCORM activity.
  • The result: Your existing courses become interactive learning spaces - without the time and budget traps of completely new production.

Typical application scenarios

Technical training courses:
"Explain the curve in the stress-strain diagram."

Product trainings:
"Which adhesives are suitable for this application?"

Onboarding:
"What do I need to look out for in this process graphic?"

Compliance/regulation:
"What does point 3 of the guideline mean for my process?"

Security, governance and the future

  • Data-efficient: Each course contains only its own context - minimising wastage and confusion.
Control: Configurable per course; simple activation/deactivation of image understanding and logging.
Expandable: Multilingualism, analytics and other channels (e.g. MS Teams, WhatsApp, Slack) can be connected.

Why now?

  • Immediately noticeable added value for participants and specialist departments
Maximum leverage for your existing course portfolio.
Implementation time in days - not months.
