Munich Stock Exchange: Successful web relaunch with TYPO3 v12
A fresh start on a familiar basis
As digital platforms grow, the requirements for stability, security and technological precision increase. For the Munich Stock Exchange, this was one of the reasons to return to Netresearch after a phase of external support from other partners - and in the course of this, to modernise the entire website on TYPO3 v12. The focus was not on rethinking the platform, but on the secure continuation of an established system with high technical requirements. This was precisely our task: to create a reliable technical foundation for a complex financial platform that offers the Munich Stock Exchange long-term stability and development security.
The move from an existing setup back to Netresearch and into a modern TYPO3 12 environment was therefore more than just a migration project. It was a vote of confidence - and at the same time a technical responsibility that we took on with a clear focus: Maintaining functionality, modernising technology and processes and at the same time creating space for future developments.
More precision and a broader base of analysis tools in the system - integration of financial.com widgets
A central element of the platform are the numerous widgets that provide price data, watchlists or detailed information on investment products. The data and layout come entirely from financial.com. Netresearch had the task of integrating these components into TYPO3 in a high-performance and future-proof manner.
A flexible solution was developed for this, which integrates the widgets via a JavaScript API and makes them configurable via TYPO3 plugins. This allows the Munich Stock Exchange to decide for itself what content should be displayed - such as different price information, detailed views, specific data series or analysis tools for investors.
This architecture offers two key advantages. Firstly, technically separate systems: financial.com provides the layout and data, TYPO3 takes care of error-free embedding and editorial control. Secondly, the stable update capability: thanks to the clear decoupling, the TYPO3 installation remains maintainable, regardless of how the widgets or data sources develop.
This technical clarity is crucial for a platform that relies on real-time information and high availability.
Modernising proven functions - without disruption
In addition to the widget integration, another important step was the transfer and updating of existing functions from the old system. Many of these elements are essential for day-to-day operations and therefore had to be completely transferred to TYPO3 v12.
These include, among others
the watchlist, which allows users to keep an eye on their favourite stocks
a buy/sell button that takes various banks and institutions into account
several import processes, including PDF data, stock information and news feeds
a central login area
All functionalities were technically updated, adapted to the standards of TYPO3 v12 and integrated in such a way that they remain maintainable in the long term. Our focus was on stability and traceability rather than cosmetic changes - in the spirit of a system that needs to work reliably.
