From the school desk to the development team: student internship at Netresearch
If you do an internship at Netresearch, you don't just get to watch - you get to do it yourself. For a fortnight, Justin and Jotaro completed their student internship with us and got a real insight into the world of web development. Their goal: to build their own website. Our goal: to provide them with the best possible support. The end result was not only new skills, but also a visible result.
Arrive straight away and get started
On the very first day, the two were given a friendly welcome and introduced to the working world step by step. Each was given their own workstation with everything they needed to work - including fully equipped computers, access data and tools. The process was also clearly structured: From the first stand-up meeting to the self-scheduled break, everything was included that makes up the real working day at our company.
To get started, the interns completed a basic course in HTML and CSS. This enabled them to quickly learn how websites are structured and how to design them. This showed that previous knowledge is helpful, but not a must. With patience, concentration and a little support, both were able to create their first pages independently after a short time.
From the exercise to your own project
After the basics came the real highlight: their own project. Justin and Jotaro developed their own website - with real features such as a login function, timer, age calculator and date checker. They not only used HTML and CSS, but also familiarised themselves with new tools.
The screenshots of their finished site show: The result is impressive. Here you can see how much effort, creativity and technical understanding went into the two-week project.
Learning in a real team atmosphere
What they both particularly emphasised: the working atmosphere. At Netresearch, interns are taken seriously. Asking questions is expressly encouraged - as is exchanging ideas with other colleagues in the various departments. There were also always interesting discussions over lunch, during which the interns gained insights into very different areas of IT.
In addition to the web project, there were also daily tasks such as the 10-finger typing challenge - a fun way to improve your typing skills. Justin's high score of 722 points shows how much fun even such "small" challenges can be.
Enable & Connect - also for student interns
"Enable & Connect" is not just a motto, it is our aspiration. We want to empower and connect people - this applies to our customers as well as to our employees and also to our interns. That's why we believe in giving people responsibility, encouraging their own ideas and enabling genuine learning experiences.
An internship at Netresearch means working on an equal footing. Not making coffee, but writing code. Not waiting, but trying things out.
Internship report: Justin
My internship at Netresearch
I'm Justin, I'm in year 9 and I was allowed to do my student internship with you. It was clear to me right from the start that if I was going to do an internship, I really wanted to learn something - not just do tasks that had nothing to do with my job.
That's exactly what I got at Netresearch. We didn't just watch, we took part ourselves. There were exciting tasks and small projects where you could really immerse yourself in the subject.
Together with Jotaro, for example, I built my own website on which we documented our internship. The site even had its own login functions, a timer, a date checker and a small tool that you could use to calculate exactly how old you are. It was cool to see what you can do with a bit of code.
I was also able to improve my keyboard skills. When practising my 10-finger typing, I increased my record to 722 points - that was a small success for me and showed me that practice really does make a difference.
Another highlight was that I discovered the cursor - a tool that helps with programming and will definitely be used a lot in the future. It was particularly cool that I discovered it before it became popular on social media.
What I also liked was the atmosphere in the team. People were open, helpful and took us interns seriously. There were lots of conversations - including over lunch - where you realised how different perspectives can be in the IT world. That was exciting and showed me new perspectives.
Overall, my internship at Netresearch was not only instructive, but also motivating. I gained a good insight into the IT industry and realised how much fun it can be to work on projects myself. An experience that I will definitely not forget in a hurry.

Internship report Jotaro
Internship
Hello, my name is Jotaro and I did my first work placement here at Netresearch for a fortnight.
My goal for the internship was to learn how to create and design a website. I was given an online basic course at the beginning, which taught me the basics of HTML and CSS. This enabled me to create simple pages. This prepared me for the next task, which was to create my own page. I really enjoyed these tasks as I was able to put a lot of what I had learnt into practice.
Apart from that, there wasn't much to complain about, as all the staff were very nice and I felt very comfortable. It also smelled really good every day at lunchtime, as Tobias always prepared lunch.
Overall, I really enjoyed the internship. I had a lot of fun completing the tasks and also learnt the basics of HTML and CSS. I can now type with 10 fingers a bit better. I got a good insight into working life and can therefore take a lot with me for the future.
Thank you for the great time during my internship at Netresearch.
Conclusion: Internship that leaves an impression
