The digital presence of Mitteldeutsche Flughäfen has been fundamentally restructured and, at the same time, comprehensively modernised. Travellers can now find information about their specific location more quickly, whilst the three websites continue to be managed centrally via a shared TYPO3 platform. The reorganisation was complemented by extensive accessibility measures and a minor soft relaunch.
Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG brings together Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports under one umbrella. Whilst the sites were initially consolidated on a single website, a different need became apparent over time: travellers are primarily looking for information about their specific airport.
The solution: a modern multi-site platform with separate websites for Leipzig/Halle, Dresden and MFAG – centrally managed and clearly tailored to users’ needs.
Accessibility and modern design in harmony
The platform’s restructuring was used as an opportunity to further develop both accessibility and the user experience. Forms, keyboard navigation, focus states and contrast have been optimised, whilst a new typeface, wider content columns and modernised navigation ensure greater readability and ease of navigation. Complemented by improved spacing and subtle rounded corners, the result is a contemporary website that is clearer, more accessible and, at the same time, significantly more modern in appearance.
Three websites. One system.
Behind the visible changes lies a powerful TYPO3 multi-site platform. All sites continue to be managed centrally from a single backend. At the same time, intelligent redirects ensure that existing links, search engine rankings and saved URLs are preserved.
