Donation instead of cost sharing - Experience Acquia Munich

In a normal year, we now would remember what interesting things we learned about Acquia products and which new partners we met at the Experience Acquia in Munich six months ago. But 2020 is not a normal year. For well-known reasons, the event had to be canceled a few days before starting and has been postponed indefinitely.

The same thing happened to all of the other participants. It is amazing how quickly we in the "digital and internet industry" have adapted to the new circumstances. The workplace was moved to the home office and events took place online. Actually no reason to remind you of a canceled event in March. So why this blog post after all?

Acquia had a great idea in March and suggested that instead of the usual cost sharing, all participants should donate to charitable organizations in Munich. We thought this was a great idea because it fits very well into our vision of success (we call it Erfolgsbild in German) in which we plan to give something back to the society we all live in. Specifically, it says:

With our mission “enable & connect” we want to improve the society in which we live. This ranges from securing and creating new jobs in our or our customers' companies to supporting social and cultural projects around us.

More about our mission

As already written, we coped quite well with the Corona situation so far. However, we were very busy with ourselves. This must not be an excuse to forget the fate of other people, especially those who cannot adapt so easily. And that is exactly what this blog post is about.

Last but not least, we want to thank the hard-working helpers of the Catholic and Protestant Railway Mission in Munich (Bahnhofsmission), and the Animal Food Bank Munich (Tiertafel) and hope that we were able to support their work at least a little bit with our donation.
